Background

I trained as an accountant in South Africa, spending 6 years in Auditing before moving into industry as an Interim Finance Manager. I worked with many blue chip companies in a wide variety of industries. Just before the first democratic elections I opened a training company in South Africa.

I left South Africa in May 1996 to gain broader business experience and pursue further business studies. Once I had completed my MBA, I focused on providing businesses with strategic and investment advice, usually in high profile projects. Working for organisations like the RAC, Ascot Race Course and Barclays Capital, I focused on delivering sound solutions to business opportunities.

During my career three distinct trends have emerged. First a long history of leadership – in the military a Non Commissioned Officer, a senior executive in business, and I'm currently co-founder and president of West London Speakers www.westlondonspeakers.com , a public speaking club. Secondly, wherever I work maintaining and developing a sense of personal achievement is vital - and I love to see other people develop and fulfil their potential. Thirdly, I enjoy making things happen - a characteristic which has stood me in good stead as an independant consultant.

Finally, I realise the achievements of multi-national companies and organisations are within our reach as individuals. All it takes is a little thought, education and desire.

Motivation

I am driven by a belief in ‘independence’ and ‘freedom’ – the desire to do it because you can and to take responsibility for your own destiny. I constantly seek interesting new ideas and challenges, and love to inspire people.

Interests

I enjoy keeping fit and as a keen golfer, I harbour a secret desire to become a pro! Holidays find me golfing, scuba diving, walking and enjoying a great read. And they're never complete without a puzzle book and a backgammon series.

Background

With academic foundations in both Economics and Cognitive Science, I am now a successful personal and business coach, certified by Coaching Development.

I have spent 12 years in business and management consulting, working with blue chip companies both in South Africa, and in the UK. Clients have included IBM, GSK, DHL, Deutsche Bank and BT.

Working in business strategy and planning, future scenario building, and with organisational culture & climate studies, I have gained a deep appreciation of the dynamics of personal and organisational change. My experience working in these key areas of business decision-making has given me unique insight into how people and companies make decisions, build commitment and achieve success. All this is an excellent foundation for the work we do in Wealth Works 101.

Motivation

I am driven by the enormous satisfaction of encouraging and supporting others as they leap into the unknown – and then watching them grow, discover their true selves and begin living a fulfilling and abundant life.

Interests

Outside of WealthWorks101, I enjoy running, diving and golf (occasionally!). I am fascinated by the human mind, and as a cognitive scientist I’m compelled to learn and explore how our knowledge of the mind, and how it works, can help us in learning even more effective ways of living and being.

I am inspired by art, sunlight, space, beauty, creativity and order. In my spare time I have a keen interest in photography, as well as in investing in stocks and shares, and international property.
